Nemos Pequenos, a local community project volunteers can get involved with, dedicates itself to teach children how to swim and about the importance of the ocean. With a significant amount of young children in Tofo and the surrounding areas unable to swim, and often scared of the ocean, volunteers help Nemo Pequenos with swimming lessons and graduation ceremonies, as well as teaching young children about the importance of conservation and our seas.

With this scheme, drowning in Tofo has reduced by over 70%, and the message of protecting our ocean is reaching new generations.

With new marine protected zones implemented within Tofo Bay and the Inhambane Estuary, Underwater Africa are involved in educational projects providing the community with support and information on the progress of these protected areas.
